Team Knock Out Cup Final – 1St Leg
Wolsingham Black Lion v Stanhope Grey Bull (A)
Wolsingham Black Lion hosted Stanhope Grey Bull (A) in the first leg of the Team Knock Out Cup Final, but it was the visitors who left with a commanding advantage ahead of next week’s return leg.
The home side made the perfect start, with Doug Mill defeating John Anderson to give Wolsingham an early lead and the first point of the tie. However, Stanhope quickly responded as Paul Coombs levelled the score for the visitors.
Unfortunately for the hosts, that was as good as it got on the night. Stanhope Grey Bull (A) took full control of the match, claiming the remaining four singles games through victories from Carl Tunstall, David Craggs, Chris Woodruff, and Johnny Emerson.
The visitors then continued their dominance in the doubles, winning all three matches to round off an emphatic performance.
The final score for the first leg finished 8–1 to Stanhope Grey Bull (A), giving them a very strong advantage heading into next week’s second leg.
