Weardale Community Transport needs volunteers
WEARDALE Community Transport Ltd. (WCT) are a well-established and socially motivated charitable
organisation, based in the Weardale Community Hub in Stanhope, covering Weardale.
We aim to provide accessible and cost-effective transport and associated services. We deliver
flexible solutions to unmet local transport needs, and may be the only means of transport for certain
user groups. To ensure we are able to provide this service we need more volunteers.
WCT pick members up at the front door (when possible) on an accessible minibus to visit various
locations. We have passenger assistants on board ready to help. Our drivers and assistants stay with
the passengers for extra support and a friendly chat throughout the day.
Why not come along to create new bonds and friendships. To become a member or for further
details about the outings please contact us on the number below.
Could you help us? We are looking for mini-bus drivers – you can drive our mini buses on a
standard driving licence if it was issued before 1997 or have a D1 qualification. MIDAS (mini bus
driver awareness) is provided. Further details will be given on application. Please call Sam or Lisa on
the details below.
Passenger Assistants are also required; you will need a basic level of fitness to help i.e. with
shopping bags. A warm and friendly manner would be helpful too.
Further details about the volunteering positions or the outings can be given on application.
Please call Sam or Lisa on 01388 528777 or or
Volunteers will need to undergo a DBS check, which will be funded by WCT. We’d love to hear
from you, so please get in touch.
