Dilston memories

I was interested to read of the activities at Dilston Hall in Corbridge.

I understand that during the Second World War Dilston Hall was a maternity home. I have never visited but understand I was born there in February 1942. My father was on leave from the Royal Navy in Gateshead at the time.

The family story goes, he was most concerned when telephoning to be told your wife has been transferred to the labour ward. He felt my mum would be so distressed she has only ever voted Conservative!
