AWARD-winning film director Dean Midas’s latest horror short, Christmas Eve, has captivated audiences, amassing over 20,000 views in just 18 days—all on a shoestring production budget of just £50.

The film, which is available to watch for free on YouTube, is the chilling new slasher featuring Eve Valentine, who brings a dark, terrifying twist to the holiday season. In an era where independent filmmakers struggle to break through, Dean’s achievement is being hailed as a “miracle”.

The production’s success was made possible through vital local support and a dedicated team. Mr. Midas credits a significant portion of the film’s spooky vibe to the Manor House Hotel & Spa in West Auckland, which served as a key location, providing the perfect atmospheric backdrop for Eve Valentine’s reign of terror.

”To see 20,000 people engage with Christmas Eve in just over two weeks is overwhelming,” says Dean Midas. “This was a massive team effort, and I want to say a huge thank you to my incredible cast and crew—specifically Sophie, Dawn, Jason and Wayne—who worked tirelessly to help me bring this vision to life. I also want to thank the Manor House Hotel  & Spa West Auckland for their hospitality and all the press and media outlets and everyone who have supported us.”

Dean Midas has achieved a feat that typically requires thousands in marketing and production capital. This success adds another accolade to Midas’s award-winning career, cementing his reputation as a filmmaker who knows how to deliver maximum chills with minimal resources.
