THE local community interest company that gives young people a taste of the world of work while helping charities and other organisations has completed its last project – the 12th – in the Teesdale area.
Trades4care has been working with the Teesdale Area Local Network at Bowes and Gilmonby village hall.
Charlie Wright, Director of Trades4care, said, “Over the 12 projects, we have been able to offer 24 work placements to local college construction students.
“The projects have given the students to opportunity to put what they’ve learned at college to great use by supporting our team in the community. These village halls are now run by amazing volunteers who do everything they can to keep them open for local residents to enjoy.
“We very much hope that we can support the great volunteers in maintaining our village halls and community buildings for many years to come as they are part of our local history.
In the near future, Trades4Care will begin a new project in Weardale – at the St Thomas centre in Wolsingham, beginning in February. And they have also been contacted by Stanhope Community Centre and Muggleswick Village Hall.
“Hopefully, we will be working in Weardale throughout 2026,” said Charlie.
Trades4Care has a new service to offer the community thanks to Matthew, one of the young people who has been working for Trades4Care. The son of Charlie, and a real chip off the old block, Matthew has started a new external cleaning service, Dirt Trooper and although only founded in the last few weeks, he already has a young lad on work placement. This week he has carried out work in Crook, Bishop Auckland and Witton le Wear.
“We’ve already had some lovely feedback on the work he’s done”, said proud dad, Charlie.
If you would like to know more about this new service, please contact Matthew on 07555798985.
