A GRAND Flower Festival is to be held in Tow Law next month in memory of Norman and Betty Deacon.
The couple who lived in the town all of their lives and gave so much of their time and effort to the place they loved will be remembered in the way they would want to be – at a flower festival in the church that they served.
Norman was renowned around the country for his floral arrangements and talks on the subject and it was he, supported by his devoted wife, who organised previous flower festivals in St Phillip and St James church in the town where he also served for decades as Church Warden.
Joan Coughtrey, one of the organisers of the Festival said, “Understandably, it won’t be to Normans scale but we will try and do them both justice, no doubt Norman will be looking down and smiling quietly, perhaps a shake of the head here and there.”
The organisers aim to stage elaborate floral creations, sponsored by local businesses and individuals and also share some photographs, serve refreshments and offer crafts for sale, made by the local craft group. All proceeds of the weekend Flower Festival will go to the church.
The festival will be held in the Parish church in Tow Law over three days: September 12th. 13th and 14th. Opening times: Saturday 10am to 5 pm: Sunday. 11am to 5 pm: Monday. 10am to 1pm
