TO celebrate the centenary of the release of the classic horror movie ‘Phantom of the Op-

era’ in 1925, starring the ‘master of a thousand faces’ Lon Chaney, a special showing is

taking place in County Durham with a live musical accompaniment this November.

The film remains one of the most iconic movies of the ‘silent’ era having been made with

a sequence shot in the new two-strip Technicolor process and in later years it proved to

be the visual inspiration for the long-running musical theatre success composed by An-

drew Lloyd Webber.

The showing will take place on SUNDAY 23rd November at the New Victoria Centre,

Howden le Wear, Crook, DL15 8EZ at 2.30 p.m. and an immersive musical experience will

be provided by the majestic sound of the Mighty Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ* played live

by AARON HAWTHORNE.

Aaron is one of the UK’s most experienced accompanists of silent movies and has won

much acclaim for his work in this field as well as awards for his theatre organ playing

both in the UK and the USA. Aaron has also recently released a CD album of Christmas

music recorded at the New Victoria Centre Wurlitzer organ with contributions from local

Rock Choir and BBC Radio 2 presenter Nigel Ogden.

Tickets are available online from: www.netoa.org.uk or by telephoning: 0333 666 3366
