STANHOPE SCOUTS RECEIVE FUNDING FROM CO-OP
1st Stanhope Scouts has received £5,000 in funding thanks to votes from Lakes & Dales Co-op
members.
Lakes & Dales Co-op Member Choice Awards let members vote for local causes with their
membership cards. 1st Stanhope Scouts received the most support in the Lakes & Dales region.
Astley Park Bowls and Lazonby Pool each received £1000.
The funding will be used to replace worn-out camping gear, including tents, stoves, shelters, and
other essential kit, as well as to subsidise an ‘Adventurous Activities Weekend’ for the Scout
members. The new equipment will allow the group to run more camping trips and offer activities
such as orienteering, expeditions, and both land and water-based adventures locally and further
afield.
Chris Allen, Group Lead Volunteer, said: “We are over the moon to be awarded £5,000 for new
camping equipment. This is going to make a huge difference to all the young people and volunteers
involved with 1 st Stanhope Scouts”.
The Member Choice Awards complement Lakes & Dales Co-op ongoing community grants and
donations. The next Member Choice Awards cycle, ending in November 2025, has shortlisted the
following good causes from the region: Men’s Pie Club, Blyth Spartans Juniors Serenity Garden and
Flynne’s Barn.
