STANHOPE COMMUNITY CENTRE RE-OPENS AFTER REFURBISHMENT
THE Gazette had a look around Stanhope Community Centre recently after a refurbishment, which
included new windows.
There has been a change in the management of the Centre after the departure of the long-serving
Chairman of the Trustees, Beryl Brown. The centre, based within the former police station and
magistrates court, built in 1841, offer a wide range of activities for all ages as well as activity rooms,
meeting rooms, a large hall and a computer suite.

There is a kitchen with not only cooking facilities but tea and coffee-making and so much more.
Activities include Bridge, Ukelele club, whist drives, garage sales, spinning and weaving, pilates,
creative writing, tiffany glass, pottery, sewing and more, including a library and space to just sit and
relax. There is also a Men’s Club, run by Dean Tinkler. And disabled facilities are available too.
More information via Email at  or Tel: 01388 528955 and there is
also a Facebook page too.
In addition, there are also rooms to hire for community events, private parties, conferences,
presentations and talks. A meeting will be held there tonight (Thursday) at 6pm to discuss St Thomas
church hall.
