WORK is well underway in St Thomas church, Stanhope to ‘re-order’ the interior. Pews have been taken out and offered for sale, which has left the space to renew the damaged wooden floor, which was affected by dry rot.
The slabs of stone, which have been sponsored by people from around the area and abroad, are now being laid. The Friends of St Thomas Church organised this part of the re-ordering to raise funds for the charitable organisation that was founded to aid the church.
The Friends have not been given a date yet for the re-opening of the church – but watch this space!
