Sophie helping herself through mental health crisis

My name is Sophie Robson, and I grew up here in Weardale — a place that will always feel like home.

I’ve struggled with my mental health for most of my life, and after years of trying to get the right support through the NHS, I’ve sadly been let down again.

At a time when I felt completely lost, I turned back to something that had always helped me find calm: macramé.

Creating with my hands gives me focus, peace, and a sense of purpose when life feels chaotic. Every knot I tie is a moment of mindfulness — a small act of hope.

I’ve decided to take things into my own hands — literally — and raise funds for the mental health support I need through my project, Forget-me-Knots.

Through Forget-me-Knots, I handcraft macramé wall hangings, plant hangers, clutch bags, and more — each piece made with love, patience, and a fair bit of stubbornness!

Every sale and donation goes directly toward my treatment and helps me create something positive from something painful.

Weardale will always mean community to me, and that’s why sharing this project here feels so important.

Every kind word, share, or purchase makes a real difference — and helps me keep turning knots into hope. 💚
