SHOE CENTIPEDE POEM BY LUCY
THE appeal to help an Eastgate teacher to help needy children in Africa has been summed up in a
poem by one of her students.
‘Lucy’ whose teacher, Nancy Wall, is leading the project, has composed the following piece of
poetry. If you can help, please contact Nancy, who teaches at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in

Shoe Centipede
A shoe centipede, what a sight to see,
With rows of flip-flops—one, two, three!
And Crocs in colours, bright and bold,
Each pair a story waiting to be told.
We’re gathering shoes, one hundred strong,
For kids who’ve waited far too long.
To walk to school with heads held high,
With comfy feet and dreams that fly.
So bring a pair, old or new,
Each step of theirs begins with you.
From here to Africa, love will lead
Thanks to our kind shoe centipede!
