Quarry to continue for 25 years
A quarry can continue sandstone extraction for another 25 years following approval from Durham
County Council.
Windy Hill Quarry, a 1.36-hectare site in Eggleston, was given the green light for lateral extension on
Monday. The quarry near Barnard Castle, operational since 1967, produces approximately 1,200
tonnes of sandstone annually, which is utilised for both construction and conservation.
