LOCATED at Consett Business Park, it will be OneGym’s 13th location in the North East.
It has been fully equipped with more than £500,000 worth of gear, including premium plate-loaded machines from Panatta, ‘top-notch’ cardio equipment, free weights, and a functional training area.
Director at OneGym, Paul Pearson, said: “Our new Consett site has everything you’d expect from a OneGym – high-spec machines, top-quality cardio, free weights, and a great space for functional training. We’ve also included a sauna, and built a timetable of classes shaped around what our members want.
“Consett has been on our radar for a long time, so it’s fantastic to finally bring OneGym here Whether you’re just starting your fitness journey or are an experienced trainer, this gym has something for everyone. We can’t wait to open the doors and welcome our new members.”
Before opening, the gym was embroiled in a war of words with Durham County Council, which denied ‘delaying’ approving plans to open the site. Eight new jobs will be created to staff the facility, which will be open 24/7 and offer low-cost zero-contract memberships with no joining fee.
Two open days will be held on Monday, September 15 from 4pm to 7pm, and Wednesday, September 17 from 11am to 2pm, ahead of the official opening day on Saturday, September 20.
