A FIRE on a Hamsterley farm last night (April 20th) was attended by seven fire engines.
The report of a fire in a garage at Middle Shipley Farm, Hamsterley, came at 8:17pm and the Fire Brigade reacted quickly. The fastest route into the village has been closed for over three years after it became too dangerous to use after a landslip.
The fire appliances accessed the farm, which is remote, from both the west and east roads into the area.
A County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.17pm on Monday, April 20 to a garage fire at Middle Shipley Farm in Hamsterley.
“Seven fire engines from Bishop Auckland, Stanhope, Crook, Spennymoor and Consett Fire Stations attended.
“Firefighters used a main jet and high-pressure hose reels to put out the fire, along with thermal imaging cameras to check for hotspots.
“Crews left the scene at 11.59pm.”
