Christmas has come early for fans of award-winning director Dean Midas.
In an exciting schedule shake-up, the premiere of his latest horror short, Christmas Eve, has been moved up from its original Boxing Day slot. The film will now debut this Friday, December 12th, at 6:00 PM.
The film has already generated significant excitement, securing early rave reviews ahead of its public debut, suggesting this may be one of the strongest entries in the Eve Valentine saga yet.
American Author & Reviewer John Valeri. “An admirably twisted tale from an admirably twisted mind! Talk about the ghost of Christmas past. Eve didn’t come to play — she came to slay”
Producer and creative consultant for BBC, ITV, C4 & C5 Jay Hall. “Christmas Eve ” is a compact horror gem that deftly blends holiday festivity with escalating terror. Protagonist Sophie Miles endures a night of subtle dread at the opulent West Manor Hotel, leading to a shocking, unforgettable climax. Evocative cinematography, a haunting score, and restrained scares, free of excess gore heighten the tension, while holiday elements sharpen its thematic edge. Strong lead performances elevate this stylish short, making it essential viewing for horror aficionados. A spine-tingling treat”
The film marks the return of Midas’s iconic horror character, Eve Valentine. While usually associated with February 13th (Valentine’s Eve), this installment places the terrifying figure in a festive setting, offering a fresh, dark twist on the holiday season.
Midas returns to his “spiritual home” for this shoot—the Manor House Hotel & Spa in West Auckland. The venue is heavily tied to the lore of his films, famously featuring a real-life room named “The Eve Suite” in honor of the character.
“I have to thank my amazing cast & crew for doing such a fantastic job,” said Mr Midas. “I must also thank everyone at The Manor House Hotel. They have always been so supportive of my work, and making this film was no exception.”
True to Midas’s roots, Christmas Eve showcases his award-winning ability to create cinema-quality horror using mobile-phone filmmaking techniques.
