ONE of the North-East’s best kept secrets has launched its Spring schedule.
Dilston Physic Garden, located near Corbridge in Northumberland (NE45 5QZ) is a magical place – a living, breathing science garden – where you can explore over 700 heritage flowers, herbs, vegetables, and trees with rich histories in health, healing, and medicine. Whether you’re curious, creative, or seeking a peaceful escape, this is a place to rejuvenate mind, body, and spirit.
The garden was created 30years ago on former pastureland on the south bank of the Tyne Valley nestled above the flowing Dyvel’s Water. It is the inspired creation of the curator and prominent UK neuroscientist Professor emeritus Elaine Perry. The Physic Garden team’s enduring work continues this community garden for all to enjoy and benefit from. The pioneering scientific research into plants to support the mind and brain, showed that traditional plant medicines, like European sage improve memory, focus and attention. As the gardens open for Spring this March, the team look forward to the year’s full programme of inspiring workshops and celebrate its biodiversity and conservation work funded and highlighted by the Community Foundation North East. Dilston Physic Garden is open all year round but as Winter turns to Spring, it comes alive – inviting everyone to step inside and learn about Mother Nature’s healing powers.
