COUNCIL COMMENT ON 40MPH LIMITS IN FIR TREE
FOLLOWING on from our article regarding the newly installed 40mph limits around Fir Tree, Durham
County Council DID respond after it was published but we inadvertently failed to report the
response.
Apologies are due to DCC for the inadvertent omission and responded as follows:
Dave Lewin, Durham County Council’s strategic traffic manager, said: “We have introduced
40mph buffer zones at either end of the village as part of traffic calming measures. This was part of a
multi-agency scheme, with an area having also been created to allow police vehicles to carry out
enforcement.”
