Beamish Museum announces a range of exciting seasonal job opportunities!
BEAMISH, The Living Museum of the North is looking to recruit people to join the team as it prepares
for another exciting year ahead.
The County Durham open air museum has announced a number of exciting new job opportunities
across its time periods, from the 1820s to the 1950s, with roles including Food & Beverage Team
members and Engagers in the museum’s towns and rural life exhibits.
Beamish is also holding a Recruitment Fair next week, on Tuesday, 4 th February, from 2pm to 7pm,
where people can find out more about the vacancies.
Imagine serving up history on a plate! The museum is searching for enthusiastic Food & Beverage
Engagers to join the team. Picture yourself serving classic fish and chips, then stepping into the
Drovers Tavern to serve 1800s-inspired meals in a truly authentic setting. Journey into the
Edwardian era and join the team as an Engager in the bustling 1900s Town. Your days will be a
whirlwind of activity, from working in the Jubilee Confectioners shop to the task of black leading a
kitchen range.
The museum is also looking for friendly faces who will take pride in keeping the site sparkling as
part of its Cleaning Team.
Ready to dig into history? Help visitors immerse themselves in the world of a 1900s mining village
as part of the Mining Life Team. From the pit cottages to leading drift mine tours, you’ll play a key
role in bringing the past to life.
In the museum’s 1950s Town you could play an important role in bringing history to life for
visitors, from welcoming them to the Grand cinema to assisting with lively events like tea dances and
the annual pantomime.
Join the Rural Life Team and you could find yourself working across the museum’s time periods,
showing what life was like on the Home Front during the Second World War at The 1940s Farm,
demonstrating traditional rural skills in 1950s Spain’s Field Farm or welcoming visitors to 1820s
Pockerley Old Hall. Beamish is also looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the Entrance Team,
providing a friendly first and last impression for every museum visitor.
Potential applicants are invited to find out more about the above roles at a Recruitment Fair on
Tuesday, 4th February, from 2pm to 7pm at the museum’s Entrance building. Please note, the rest of
the museum will not be open that day as Beamish is currently in its winter opening hours.

Founded in 1970, Beamish, The Living Museum of the North tells the story of life in the 1820s,
early 1900s, 1940s and 1950s and holds important collections which preserve the social, industrial
and agricultural heritage of the region.
