Another great year for Trades4care

IT’S been another great year for Trades4care in our community.

Over the last 12 months the team have carried out 38 projects helping to maintain the care, community and educational buildings. They have also supported people in their own homes that can’t maintain their property due to illness, disability or old age. The team have also been able to offer over 50 work experience placements to local young adults.

Charlie Wright Director of Trades4care said, “It’s been another extremely busy and rewarding year in the community working to support so many amazing organisations that do so much to help local families.

“We’ve also carried out quite a few smaller jobs in people’s homes who for many reasons aren’t able to carry out the work they used to on their own property.

“Every young adult that has joined us this year has done some great work helping their communities. Some have gone into apprenticeships or other employment and others are carrying on enjoying their college courses.

“Our Handyman service continues to grow and thanks to Matthew from Dirt trooper our new external cleaning service is proving very popular.

“We begin 2026 at St Teresa’s Hospice and shop where we will be supported by decorating students from New College Durham. Then in February we will be in Wolsingham at the St Thomas community centre.

“We have some amazing projects lined up for 2026 that will offer so many great opportunities for our local youngsters.

“The team would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New year. We would also like to thank everyone at the Weardale Gazette for their support this year in covering all the great work our local young adults have carried out in our community.”
