Theatregoers can sneak through the streets of London, wrangle a deadly King Cobra, and discover their courage in the company of a ninja cat, in a purr-fectly thrilling production coming to Durham.
Toto the Ninja Cat is coming to Durham County Council’s Gala Durham this August, and promises lough-out-loud fun for the whole family, thanks to extraordinary puppetry from renowned company Little Angel Theatre.
The play is an adaptation of Dermot O’Leary’s much loved children’s book, Toto the Ninja Cat and the Great Snake Escape, which is illustrated by Nick East.
The story follows Toto, who may look like your ordinary feline, but is in fact almost completely blind. As a result, she has developed incredible ninja skills, a big heart, and a nose for adventure. By day, she naps like any other pet, but by night, she’s out on daring missions with her brother, Silver.
In their first adventure, a deadly King Cobra has escaped onto the streets of London, and it’s up to Toto to use every ounce of her courage and cunning to save the day.
The bestselling book series is based on Dermot’s real-life pets and has sold more than half a million copies globally. After adopting Toto and Silver as kittens in Italy, he began imagining their adventures. This daydreaming led to the first instalment of a novel series, with six books so far.
Families can join Toto on her adventures on Tuesday 11 August at 4.30pm, and Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 August at 11am and 2pm.
Standard tickets costs £16, with under 16s and groups of 10 or more getting tickets for £12.25, and families with a minimum of two under 16s getting tickets for £49.75.
