THE first Fun Day at Holywell Farm, Wolsingham was very popular with both Weardalians and visitors yesterday (May 24th).

Organised by farmer, Steven Love and his partner, Arrianne Nelson it was held in a large field usually used for fattening lambs.  As a queue built up to enter and excitement was building, the sun was shining and all seemed well with the world – and so, it was.

Families came from far and wide as well as locals who wanted to support the venture to enjoy a full day of amusements with WH Clark’s funfair at the centre of it. Fellside Alpacas were there too and the car boot sale seemed to be doing a roaring trade.

There were food stalls, including the Hunwick Cheese Man, a fruit stall as well as the Holywell Farm stall selling Steven’s home-bred lamb and beef. There were lots of other traders too, including some local people with their home-made creations.

As families enjoyed their picnics on the grass in the glorious sunshine, it was a sight to see and for Steven and Arrianne who had worked so hard, it was an outstanding success.
