Alston Moor Federation was delighted to host its annual Christmas Market on Wednesday at the Church Road site, bringing together families, pupils, staff, and the wider community for a festive evening of celebration, shopping and fundraising.
The event featured a wonderful mix of stalls from local businesses, alongside creative and seasonal stalls run by pupils and staff from all three schools, the PTFA, and the school leadership team. Visitors enjoyed mince pies and other festive treats prepared and served by staff, while the school choir performed a selection of Christmas songs, adding to the warm and joyful atmosphere.
A particular highlight for many children was a visit to Santa’s Grotto, beautifully set up in the school library, which proved extremely popular throughout the evening.
The event concluded with the highly anticipated Christmas Raffle, featuring an impressive array of prizes kindly donated by members of the community and local organisations. The Federation extends its sincere thanks to everyone who contributed such generous donations.
Additional stalls included fundraising efforts from the Samuel King’s School Prom Committee, and an information stand from Community Development Officer, Sarah Stamford, both of whom added to the variety and success of the evening.
The Christmas Market raised just under £2,000, all of which will directly benefit children across the Federation through the purchase of new equipment, books, and learning resources.
Headteacher Rob Dawson said:
“We were so pleased to welcome so many members of the community into school. It was fantastically supported, and the event had a great buzz about it.”
The Federation is grateful to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated, or supported the market in any way. It was a superb community event, showcasing the strength and spirit of Alston Moor.
