Local film-maker to screen Christmas Eve horror

Dean Midas, the celebrated, award-winning film director hailing from Durham, has officially announced his next short film: Christmas Eve. The project is set to revive his popular horror character, Eve Valentine, bringing a chilling new installment to her dark and captivating story.

​Christmas Eve promises to deliver Midas’s signature blend of low budget horror, building on the critical success of his previous work. 

The new film also sees Dean return to the Manor House Hotel & Spa, West Auckland. 

General Manager, Josh Gamsby said “We’ve absolutely loved working with Dean Midas over the years and can’t wait to see this new short film! His incredible talent for horror films, especially Eve Valentine, makes every project exciting, and we’re proud to continue supporting his work here at the hotel. We’re especially excited to be hosting Dean’s Masquerade Ball for Eve Valentine, in February 2026” 

​Mr Midas, whose previous films have earned him multiple accolades and recognition on the international festival circuit, expressed his excitement about returning to the character.

​”Eve Valentine is a character close to my heart, and the Christmas setting at The Manor House Hotel, West Auckland, offers a unique and unsettling side to the character,” said Dean Midas.

Christmas Eve stars, Dawn Daroczy, Sophie Mairi, Jason Redman & Andrew Chaney. It will be released via Dean Midas Films YouTube on Boxing Day.
