A YOUNG man from Crook is seeking work on a farm after a two-year course in animal management at Houghall College.

Matthew, a former pupil of Wolsingham School, has experience in both employment and voluntary work on farms and helping animal charities as well as in the caring profession. He has spent time as a carer, providing personal care to an elderly gentleman and although he enjoyed it, his dream is to work on a farm.

In his quest to obtain employment in the agricultural industry, Matthew has experienced multiple farming jobs such as mucking out stables, creating new enclosures for herds, assisting in medical procedures such as a prolapsed ewe after birth and so much more.

He said, “I have assisted in the enrichment and exercise of horses and dogs while helping in dog training and birthing and had to move cattle and sheep herds from one area to another, as well as feeding new calves in the stables and ensuring they had a clean environment.

“My career ambition is to work on a farm and I would love the chance to show how hard I can work.”

He passed BTech Level 2 and 3 in Animal Management. He is dedicated to the care, good health and wellbeing of all animals and is seeking an opportunity in an animal-based or agricultural industry. He is health and safety trained and has a great knowledge on a wide variety of animal species, including handling, training and nutritional value in diets.

He is a good communicator and just wants the chance to prove himself. He has taken the initiative to contact the local newspaper and asked for help. Matthew can provide references on request.
