NEWS WOLSINGHAM HAIRDRESSER WINS NATIONAL AWARDS A HAIRDRESSER from Wolsingham has won the prestigious Saks Stylist of the Year award along with the Customer Service Award. Shannon Currah (28) runs the Saks Hair Salon in Hexham, owned by her mother, Andrea who is also an award-winning hairdresser herself. She has worked at the salon for almost eight years, managing it for the last three and working alongside her mother and in her footsteps, pleasing regular clients from around Weardale and Northumberland. Andrea was equally as happy at her daughter’s success. Shannon was delighted to win the award at a glittering ceremony held in London and she paid tribute to her team for helping to bring further success to the popular salon. She said, “Big thanks to my team, it’s impossible for me to do what I do without them all. Teamwork makes the dream work!” And Shannon wasn’t the only one from her salon to win an award. Her apprentice, 19-year-old Isla McKelvie, was presented with the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ award at the same event. She has worked at the salon for two years. Both women were keen to also pay tribute to their clients. Shannon said, “Thank you to all our lovely, loyal clients for all of your support, loyalty and life lessons!”
