FIR TREE WI ANNUAL REPORT IN RHYME
WHEN Fir Tree WI members attended their monthly meeting, they were treated to a very different
annual report.
Member, Elaine Armstrong, renowned for her poetry-writing talent, created a poem with a
difference to remind her fellow members what has happened in the group over the last 12 months.
FIR TREE WI ANNUAL REPORT
Looking back over the past year,
We’d like to share the things we’ve done,
Our speakers, crafts and stories,
Our meetings are always lots of fun!
The greener cup has had pride of place,
Since last year’s acquisition, It’s ready for Its new home,
Who will win the competition?
In June, we made seed papers,
Our wildflowers are not wilting,
We had a special guest in July,
Who helped us try our hand at quilting!
In August we tried Tai Chi,
Checking your posture is a must,
September there were tears all round,
With a talk from the Dogs Trust.
In October, our member Alyson,
Stepped in to save the day,
She taught a bit about flower arranging,
We made a floral pumpkin display.
She also held our November meeting,
This time she donned her crafting hat,
She demonstrated an old age tradition,
Of how to make a proddy mat.
December of course,
Our Christmas meal,
Held in our home,
The Duke of York.
We had a quiz and held our raffle,
Ate beautiful food and popped a cork.
In January we had a break.
February, we needed a keen eye,
As a crime scene need solving,
Held by Helen, our resident CSI!
As women of a certain age,
The March meeting had a cause,
We all listened intently,
As we were taught about menopause.
We’ve started a knit and natter group,
And our book club is just super,
We’ve read a range of authors,
From Stephen King to Jilly Cooper!
We made bunting for the royal visit,
The flags had 30cm gaps,
There was a lot of serious discussion,
Of how to handle your loose flaps.
In April it was our birthday,
Our WI has just turned three,
As a group we’ve achieved so much,
I’m sure our members would agree.
Dedicated ladies finished our banner,
As you can see it’s work of art,
Everything on it is recycled,
And has our village at the heart.
That’s it in a nutshell,
A summary of the year gone by,
We can’t wait to see what’s next,
For our wonderful Fir Tree WI!
