Police are renewing their appeal to find missing man James Allen.
JAMES was last seen a week ago on Tuesday (May 27) in the Toft Crescent and Treen Crescent areas
of Murton, near Seaham.
Officers believe he may be in Hawthorn Dene and an extensive search is being carried out in the
area using specially trained police teams, expert search and mountain rescue teams, and air support
from His Majesty’s Coastguard. Specialist family liaison officers are also providing ongoing support to
the 25-year-old’s family.
James is around 6ft 4inches tall with dark brown mullet-style hair and a short, stubbly beard. He is
believed to be wearing a black beanie hat, dark joggers, and black trainers.

Chief Inspector Jim O’Connor, from Durham Constabulary, said: “We are extremely concerned for
James’ welfare as he has not been seen or heard from for a week. Our specialist search officers have
been working hard to find him since he was reported missing, with support from our colleagues at
Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team and HM Coastguard.
“We know Hawthorn Dene is popular with walkers and runners so would urge people who may be
visiting the area to please keep a lookout for him. If you see him, please call 999. If you have any
information that could assist our ongoing investigation, then please report it to us on our 101
