Village Defibrillator Saves a life
A DEFIBRILLATOR, funded by villagers, has saved a life in Fir Tree.
Last night (Thursday May 15th), a medical emergency took place in the Duke of York public house and landlady, Imogen Bowater, sprung into action. She used the defibrillator attached to the building and used the skills she had learned at a recent First Aid course to save the life of a customer.
The Great North Air Ambulance was scrambled, landed in a field near to the pub and whisked the patient to James Cook Hospital.
Imogen said, “We had a serious medical incident this evening at the Duke of York and have used the defibrillator and knowledge learned from a recent first aid course, both funded by the local Residents’ Association, to help out.
“Thank you to all involved, without village fundraising this wouldn’t have been possible.”
