HOW A HILL TOP IN CONSETT BECAME THE UK’S BOTTLING POWERHOUSE
YOU may be more familiar with the names of the Group’s individual businesses – Lanchester Wines ,
Greencroft Bottling, Spicers of Hythe, Bon Bon’s and Full Circle Brew Co.
The group was originally started in the village of Lanchester, hence the name. Its owners, Tony
and Veronica Cleary, started the first business, Lanchester Wines, in 1980 with Greencroft
Bottling following in 2004.
As one of the largest employers in the area, there’s always an exciting variety of roles on offer. To
learn more, we spoke with Adrian Wright, Senior Operations Manager at Greencroft Bottling:
Who is Greencroft Bottling?
“Well, there are two parts to this. First, what we do: we’re a contract wine bottler. We take bulk
wine – wine shipped in 24,000-litre tanks from all over the world – and transfer it into bottles, boxes
and cans ready to be sold in supermarkets, pubs, bars, etc.
Secondly, who we are: we’re a team of friends and colleagues with a real passion for what we do.
Greencroft Bottling is a fantastic place to work, offering more opportunities than you might expect.
Roles range from machine operatives and FLT drivers to operations, planning, procurement, quality
control, finance and even electrical engineers – we have our own engineering department! It’s a
varied and
exciting business.”
What makes Greencroft Bottling special?
“This year has been our busiest yet, and we’ve just opened our new Greencroft Two building. We’re
committed to supporting local talent, offering training programmes and career progression
opportunities. Many of our managers and supervisors started their careers with us on the shop floor
and worked their way into senior positions.”
With growth on the horizon, Greencroft Bottling is looking for enthusiastic new team members.
