The first phase of the work being done in St Thomas church in Stanhope is complete.
The pews have gone, a new floor has been laid and the ancient interior has been given a whole new look with chairs arranged around the altar that has been brought into the centre of the body of the building.
It is certainly a new and different look to what visitors and worshippers have been accustomed to but the main archeological features remain with three fonts at least being both accessible and prominent.
Rev Graeme Holdsworth has taken a video for anyone to watch – for those folk both near and far who aren’t able to visit, to see.
