
A North East council has been recognised four times for its outstanding contribution to improving the health and wellbeing of residents.
Having been named as a finalist in seven ukactive Award categories, Durham County Council walked away with the winner’s trophies for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Transformational Innovation and Marketing Campaign.
The authority was also named Outsanding Organisation of the Year.
In addition to winning, the council was a finalist in the categories:
• Regional Public Club/Centre of the Year (North of England)
• Workplace and Culture Initiative
• Physical Activity Hero
• Outstanding Leadership Team
Cllr Karen Allison, Durham County Council’s Cabinet member for leisure, tourism, regeneration and high street, said: “We are incredibly proud to have won these awards. The ukactive Awards is one of the UK’s largest awards ceremonies for the fitness and physical activity sector.
The awards celebrate organisations and individuals that are driving innovation and impact in physical activity.
