Weardale Ski Club Ltd

FOR the second year running, Weardale Ski Club has opened in November and is the first “ski resort” in the UK to offer uplift this season again with none of the Scottish or other English resorts opening yet.

The skiing was described as combative and was not easy but made much easier by the pistebasher flattening some of the runs. We only opened F1 as F2 looked a bit bare.

We are planning to run tomorrow (Thursday 20th Nov) from about 0930 but are likely to only run F1 again unless there insignificant snowfall overnight. Temperatures are due to fall to -6c overnight which should improve conditions for tomorrow. I will post a few photos on Facebook so that you can make up your own minds but it certainly won’t be suitable for beginners. Please do not turn up late as we may close by early to mid afternoon.

The road conditions were not bad today but the last mile or so still had a good covering of snow when we left and was turning icy so winter/snow tyres will be essential.

Finally due to changes in our insurance cover we need a record of who has attended each day so can you all sign in at the lodge (there is a black diary in there) – we just need your name and car registration (the latter is for safety reasons in case any cars are left at the end of the day). If you do not sign in you will not be covered by our insurance policy.
