Weardale Pool League – Week 15 Report
Stanhope Grey Bull (A) vs St Johns Chapel Blue Bell
Stanhope Grey Bull (A) got the evening underway in positive fashion, with Chris Woodruff opening the scoring. Stu Brown followed up to extend the home side’s lead before Mike Moore responded for St Johns Chapel Blue Bell to make it 2–1.
Carl Tunstall restored Grey Bull’s two-frame cushion, but Simon Jones hit back for the visitors to keep the contest tight at 3–2. David Craggs then secured the final singles frame of the night, giving Stanhope Grey Bull (A) a two-point advantage heading into the doubles.
The home side carried that momentum into the final stages, winning two of the three doubles matches to seal a solid 6–3 victory.
Stanhope Pack Horse vs Frosterley Inn
Frosterley Inn produced a dominant away performance at Stanhope Pack Horse, racing into an early and commanding lead. Ethan Coates opened the scoring, followed by wins from Derek Dent, Neil Coates, and Finlay Coates to put the visitors 4–0 ahead.
The pressure didn’t ease, as Jake Richardson and Davey Richmond claimed the final two singles frames of the night. Frosterley Inn then completed a flawless display by carrying their form into the doubles, winning all three matches to secure a comprehensive 9–0 clean sweep.
Stanhope Club vs Stanhope Grey Bull (B)
Stanhope Club made a strong start on home turf, taking the early advantage with singles wins from Stu O’Dell, Alan Barker, and Adam Robinson. Stanhope Grey Bull (B) fought back through Chris Henderson and David Sheppard to reduce the deficit to 3–2.
However, Gary Stubbs claimed the final singles match of the evening, giving Stanhope Club a two-point lead going into the doubles. The home side then wrapped up the night in style, winning all three doubles matches to complete a convincing 7–2 victory.
