Weardale Pool League – Week 12 Report
Stanhope Grey Bull (B) vs Stanhope Pack Horse
Jack Tinkler opened the scoring for Stanhope Grey Bull (B), with David Sheppard soon adding a second for the home side. Further singles victories from Chris Henderson, Julie Scott, Rob Graham, and Richard James gave Grey Bull (B) a commanding advantage by the end of the singles matches.
Stanhope Pack Horse rallied strongly in the doubles, claiming all three games to reduce the deficit, but the damage had already been done. Stanhope Grey Bull (B) secured a 6–3 victory on the night.
Wolsingham Black Lion vs Stanhope Club
Stanhope Club made an excellent start, with Paul Dobson opening the scoring. Wins from Adam Robinson, Stuart O’Dell, and Adam Dobson followed, giving the visitors a four-point lead after the early singles.
Wolsingham Black Lion responded well, taking the final two singles through James Everitt and Doug Mill. However, Stanhope Club proved decisive in the doubles, winning two of the three matches to seal a 6–3 win overall.
Frosterley Inn vs Stanhope Grey Bull (A)
Frosterley Inn got off to a strong start through Ethan Coates, but Stanhope Grey Bull (A) quickly levelled via Johnny Emerson. The match continued in a tight back-and-forth contest, with Derek Dent and Michael Henderson putting the home side ahead on two occasions, only for Danny Theckston and Dean Tinkler to respond for the visitors.
The singles ended level at 3–3, setting up a tense doubles finale. Frosterley Inn held their nerve, winning the first two doubles matches to secure the overall victory, before Stanhope Grey Bull (A) claimed the final game of the night. Frosterley Inn ran out 5–4 winners.
