A little monster and his friends are heading to Durham for a fun, family adventure.
There’s a Monster in Your Show is coming to Durham County Council’s Gala Durham as part of its sixth UK tour from Wednesday 28 to Friday 30 October, and promises a high-energy 50-minute adventure, with plenty of playful fun for the little ones.
Written by Tom Fletcher and based on his beloved Who’s in Your Book? series, the interactive production leapt from page to stage in October 2023 and has quickly become a must-see family musical theatre show.
The play features performers preparing to start their show, but they quickly discover that they are not alone on stage. Little Monster wants to be part of the fun too, along with his friends Dragon, Alien and Unicorn.
The show has been seen by over 115,000 youngsters and their families at more than 120 UK venues with productions worldwide, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Dublin. Audiences can expect comedy and chaos as Little Monster and his friends create a magical show, learning about the joy of books and friendship along the way.
Presented by MEI Theatrical and directed by Miranda Larson, the show is recommended for ages two to six.
Tickets cost £16, £14 for under 16s, and £56 for a family ticket (requiring a minimum of two under 16s) and can be purchased at www.galadurham.co.uk.
Lizzie Glazier, artistic director of Gala Durham, said: “We’re pleased to see this fantastic show coming to Gala Durham. It promises to be fun, chaotic and full of laughs for everyone involved. These are the must-see shows we are proud to bring to audiences in County Durham and is an example of just one of the many brilliant performances taking place at the theatre.”
Tom Fletcher, said: “It’s been an incredible journey watching There’s a Monster in Your Book come to life on stage and seeing the characters I dreamt up in my head bouncing around with so much energy and personality.
“For me, There’s a Monster in Your Show is the perfect first theatre experience for little ones. I know taking kids to the theatre can be a bit daunting – but this show is made with young families in mind. It’s completely interactive, noisy in all the best ways, and children are encouraged to shout, sing, clap and dance their hearts out.”
