League game PSG v Consett Warriors
Pre-match Talk: Today was all about starting 2026 strong and to focus on our game and let Hexham know who is in town.
Game Time: An early kick off time in Hexham, our first game after Christmas and with no training – yes we started really sluggish. Balls bouncing off us on every touch, slow to move. Not a great start and after 10-12 mins the opponents had a corner. It was well delivered into the box and came off the back of the players head and into the net. 0-1.
Now time for the Warriors to get into their groove. Almost instantly we won the ball in midfield and Jake played a brilliant ball over the top to Zach who drove towards goal with PGS players all over him. Determination saw Zach slot home his first goal of 2026. We were back in the game. 1-1
We then hit bang bang over the next ten minutes. On the 20th minute Dylan made a great move with the ball and played a brilliant ball across the deck to Zach who ran on to it and through onto goal. Great goal. 1-2. Five minutes later a great long ball from Olly HL was pounced on by Zach who went round the keeper and made no mistake sealing his hat-trick. 1-3.
Both teams were giving it everything and were playing hard but fair. Half highlight- Olly HL going on a fantastic run from right back all the way into the striker position and almost scoring. Our goalkeeper Gabriel and defensive unit of Olly HL, Cassius, George, Lewis and Teddy, worked so hard to keep the opposition at bay and protect our goal. Great work. We went into half time 1-3 up and a deserved lead. Half time: 3-1.
Half Time talk: Raise the intensity and string more passes together to break them down further. But stay strong defensively.
Second Half: Our second half started really brightly. We were on the front foot and trying to make things happen. Ten minutes into the second half we found the next break. Another strong run by Dylan down the right and cross into the box was met by Zach who finished it calmly for his fourth of the day. 1-4.
Our midfield today did not stop. Jake, Elliott, Dylan, Bradley, Jacob, Ryan, Karam and Kailym worked their socks off, driving forward the attacks whilst tracking back to support our defence. Jake had a great game today. He was breaking up play, bringing his team mates into the game and worked so hard. A great and well deserved MoTM.
Although the game felt under control the opposition did not stop and kept us focused. We showed great determination and attacked in numbers. Half highlight- Dylan darting dribble and strike on goal just missing by a whisker. Our second goal of the second half came around the 55th minute. We were attacking the opposition box and a defensive clearance fell to Karam on the edge of the box. He took an early shot towards goal and fired it into the bottom left hand corner. Great finish. 1-5.
Our attacker Zach picked up where he left off in 2025, an ultimate goal machine. Today again showed great speed and a sight for goal but also strong hold up play when needed. For the next ten minutes of the game both teams played well going end to end. On the 67th minute we wrapped up the game. Zach pressured the opposition winning the ball in the middle of the opposition half. He then opened up and drove towards goal. He went past the defence and stepped to the right of the keeper before slotting the ball home. Great goal. 1-6. Full time: 1-6
Full Time Message: Great start to 2026. Make 2026 as memorable as 2025. Enjoy the victory and we go again next week, starting with training on Monday. Our communication on the pitch needs to improve. Off the pitch I can’t shut them up. On the pitch it is something we need to work on.
