Pedigree Limousin – North East Club Sale
Bull Show Classes – Thanks must go primarily to our expert judge Mr Clive Knox who kindly travelled down from Kelso to expertly oversee proceedings today. Huge credit should be bestowed upon the vendors who presented without question the best show of bulls ever witnessed at this fast-improving annual event. The champion rosette went to the excellent February 2024 born Lissett Vision from JH Tennant Ltd, Bridlington; a really powerful bull with two copies of the F94L gene he is sired by the French bull Hamac and out of an excellent cow in Barrons Mylassy. The reserve championship went to the youngest bull in attendance, the April 2025 born Jorica Airmarshal from the local; herd of Josh Knaggs is sired by Glenrock Topgun and out of a homebred cow Jorica Primrose. A full breakdown of the show results and consequent prices are listed below.

North East Club Sale of Bulls
Trade continued last year’s tremendous form, all but two of the thirty-two found new homes and the pair unsold were the youngest by some margin and will both surely have a bright future on another day. Five bulls hit five figures; a feat never achieved before at this sale. Three selling at exactly 10,000 guineas were bettered by one at 11,500 guineas and our sale leader at 12,000 guineas. Top of the day was the incredibly well grown Barrons Apollo from Willie Baron, Burnhope; the beautifully deep red coloured bull is sired by Cornsay Thunder and out of Barrons Sunset with a long line of home bred females on her side. Selling at 11,500 was the wonderful Fieldson Vanilla from JW & MC Fieldson, Lincolnshire; a cracker with the desirable combination of an F94L and a Q204X gene he is sired by Glenrock Redemption and out of the homebred Fieldson Smoothie. The three bulls reaching 10k were all strong two-year-olds; the champion Lissett Vision plus Brontemoor Vane from JM & SM Priestley and also Eastshaw Vanra from A & JA Iveson. Vane is sired by Knock Msport, a Goldies Goldfinger son out of the homebred Brontemoor Nina whilst Vanra is even more of a homebred success story, sired by the son of a Wilodge Vantastic bred Eastshaw Ivantastic out of Eastshaw Rachel who herself is a Dinmore Goldcrest daughter.

Castlethorpe Herd Major Reduction Sale
On behalf of the directors, auctioneers and staff here at Darlington Mart we would firstly like to thank Johnathon and Suzanne Stacey for entrusting us to conduct this important sale. The people and the cattle have been an absolute pleasure to deal with from beginning to end and we feel privileged to have played our part in this memorable occasion, we by no means take lightly the responsibility of overseeing the sale of the Stacey’s lifetimes worth of hard work. The consistency of the herd was apparent for all to see and with that brought about some excellent results in the sale ring, temperaments second to none and milky French genetics ensured buyers bid confidently both in person and online from the length and breadth of Great Britain.

The twenty-two cows and calves averaged a marvellous 5777 guineas, the eleven 2024 born heifers averaged 3963 guineas and the nineteen 2025 born heifers averaged 2615 guineas. Top of the wonderful cows and calves at 7200 guineas was the exceptional 2023 born Castlethorpe Unique with her heifer calf Castlethorpe Berry at foot. Unique is a daughter of the influential Frogmore Royalty and out of Castlethorpe Roux whilst the bonnie Berry is sired by Dyfri Shogun; they were bought by Suffolk based Alastaire Brice. Topping the heifers ready to bull was the stunning Castlethorpe Vino at 4600 guineas, she is another sired by Dyfri Shogun and goes with her excellent figures to surely breed well for AK Belfield, Derbyshire. The young heifer trade was led at 3200 guineas by Castlethorpe Appy, yet another Dyfri Shogun daughter she was many peoples pick, she was eventually secured by the far travelled GHMJ Samuel, Herefordshire.
