Cast Cattle – More life in the cow trade with an extra buyer ringside resulted in all classes rising on the week; eighteen continentals and the same number of Friesian’s joined ten natives to average 256ppk and £1697 per head. Top per kilo at 358 pence was an excellent 11-year-old Limousin cow from WA Richardson Ltd, Hutton Fields. Following at 338ppk was a smart 8-year-old Limousin from S & J Dent & Son, Great Burdon Farm and a fleshy 7-year-old British Blue cow from Reed & Hill, Lingley Field at 326ppk. The brilliant Blue from Lingley Field topped the female prices in the lump when she added up to £2735 whilst the topper per kilo from Messrs Richardson followed just £11 adrift.
