⚽️

Today we welcomed Lucas into the side for his debut. Thank you to the boys for making Lucas feel so welcome and well done Lucas having a solid debut.

 Pre-match Talk:
Today’s team talk was a build up on last week. Yes the pitch was small, yes the pitch was clarty and yes the goals were small, but it’s the same for both teams. The boys need to find the inner desire to win games the hard way and not hoping it’s going to be easy. The message was also to keep the ball out wide and keep it out of the mud in the middle of the pitch.

🏟️

 Game Time:
We started the game well and we were putting the instructions into practice getting it wide and playing down wide.

On the 5th minute Ryan picked up the ball moved it wide and played a beautiful ball splitting the centre half’s and putting in Olly who slotted in past the keeper for the perfect start. Score 0 – 1, Goal: Olly Assist: Ryan

The next 20 minutes was so frustrating as we were second to every ball and allowed the opposition too much time on the ball, too much space. It’s frustrating as I know the boys are capable of so much more.

On around the 25th minute our luck ran out and after a clearance that was intercepted by the opposition we stepped off and off and they got into our box and scored a good goal from the left hand side of the box. Score: 1 – 1.

We then came in at half time drawing the game 1-1.

 Half time: 1 – 1

👏

 Half highlight:
Ryan’s exquisite pass splitting the defence to put Olly through to score.

 Half Time talk:
An honest talk at half time. The opposition fully deserved to be level. They had the energy and were first to every ball. We had to pick up our desire to play well and win. We had to start and be the 1st to every ball and stop standing off the opposition. We could not have a repeat of the cup game against Waldridge Park.

🔁

 Second Half:
Five minutes after the start the opposition got a corner. The ball went across our box with no one getting a touch. They made a short pass and shot it past Gabriel. Such a sloppy goal to concede. Score 2 – 1.

Again for the next 10 minutes we were still lulling around the pitch with no desire.

Then all of a sudden we started to pick up. Gabriel and the defence, Lewis, Teddy, Jack, Lucas, Cassius and George, we were starting to solid up at the back , they were making better decisions in their play and clearances mainly down the lines.

Our midfielders, Elliott, Jacob, Bradley, Ryan, Jake, Karam, were starting to get proper stuck in. We were trying to pass and move but the pitch was so cut up it was more difficult. But supporting the forward line of Olly and Dylan we were staring to pin the opposition back and put some serious pressure on.

We had to ride a lot of fouls and bad fouls if I say so myself but the boys never gave up.

With 5 minutes to go we won a corner on our right hand side. Elliott delivered the perfect cross towards the edge of the six yard box and our birthday boy Cassius rose high and bravely got his head on it to fire it in for a deserved equaliser. The Warriors supporters erupted. Get in

💪

. Score 2 – 2, Goal: Cassius, Assist: Elliott.

My message to the boys was to focus and keep our shape. After the kick off the opposition got into our box and to the surprise of absolutely everyone, except the ref who was closer to the other 18 yard box, they were awarded a penalty.

😳

.

The Warriors did not deserve this. But when the penalty taker stepped up he was facing an intimidating presence in our goal, Gabriel. The penalty was hit and Gabriel saved it with his right foot and we then got the danger cleared. The ref shortly afterwards blew for full time.

⚽️

 Full time: 2 – 2

👏

 Half highlight: x 2
* Cassius bullet header goal from Elliott’s corner.
* Gabriel’s fantastic penalty save.

💬

 Full Time Message:
Whilst I wasn’t happy with the majority of the performance I applaud the attitude to never giving up. But we really need to be at the races in games and be less passive.

🤔

 Further thoughts:
I know I may of been hard on the boys but I do appreciate playing on that surface today would have felt like they were running with bricks on their feet.

Whilst it’s not the result we wanted – we have to keep building, learning and playing with a desire and fire to play well and win.

🎂

Happy Birthday Cassius. A great header to celebrate his birthday.
