A NEW men’s football team has been founded in Tow Law, which will be playing in a Sunday League.
The idea originally of John Payne and Damion Anderson, these two men enlisted the help of John Wilson and David Corrigan and together, a lot of hard work has been put into forming the team. John is the Coach and Manager with Damion the joint Chairman, John Wilson as Secretary and David as Treasurer. The team – Over 18s men – will play in the Swinburne Maddison Sunday League against other local teams in the county and as it will be based in Tow Law’s only public house, its name is Tow Law Newmarket FC.
John said, “We would like to thank the landlady, Tracy, and the Newmarket for their generosity and hospitality through pre-season. We look forward to working alongside them all for the coming season and the seasons to come! Thank you to everyone for the hard work getting us to where we are today.”
Shops and businesses in Tow Law have been very supportive and added to the coffers with financial backing.
John has a lot of experience in coaching and managing football teams, spending many years working with Bishop Auckland Ladies and Girls’ teams and now he has put that expertise and passion for the sport into a team based in his home town.
We wish them all the very best for the coming season.
