Stanhope Pack Horse V St John’s Chapel Blue Bell
Stanhope Pack Horse welcomed St John’s Chapel Blue Bell in a closely contested fixture. The visitors took the first point of the evening by default, as the home side could only field five players, with Terry Wood awarded the opening frame.
Stanhope Pack Horse quickly responded, with wins from Ian Peart and David Nicholson giving them a narrow lead. Damien Tomlinson levelled for the Blue Bell, before Dan Wright edged the home side back in front. The visitors battled well in the final singles frame with a win from Simon Aldred to make it 3–3 heading into the doubles.
With everything still to play for, the Pack Horse held their nerve, winning two of the three doubles frames to secure a narrow 5–4 victory in a match that could have gone either way.
Wolsingham Black Lion V Stanhope Grey Bull (B)
Jack Tinkler got Stanhope Grey Bull (B) off to a strong start, taking the opening frame. However, Wolsingham Black Lion quickly took control of proceedings.
Wins from Adam Martin and Adam Fletcher put the home side ahead, before further victories from Jonathan Elliot, James Everitt, and Doug Mill saw them surge into a commanding 5–1 lead after the singles, sealing the match before the doubles began.
Stanhope Grey Bull (B) managed to claim one doubles frame, but The Black Lion continued their dominance by taking the remaining two to complete a convincing 7–2 win.
Stanhope Club V Frosterley Inn
Stanhope Club hosted Frosterley Inn, with the visitors making the stronger start through Derek Dent and Neil Coates.
Adam Dobson pulled one back for the home side, but Finlay Coates restored the two-frame advantage for Frosterley Inn. Stanhope Club responded in style, including an unbelievable total clearance from Frank Stephenson before Adam Robinson levelled the match at 3–3 after the singles.
Frosterley Inn took full control in the doubles, winning all three frames to secure a comfortable 6–3 victory on the night.
