Stanhope Sports & Social Club successfully hosted its first Junior Darts Tournament on Saturday 4 April 2026, attracting a strong turnout of young players and supporters from across the region.
The event showcased an impressive standard of play throughout the day, culminating in a closely contested final between Oliver Meikle and Caison Gibson. Oliver delivered a composed performance to secure victory and lift the annual tournament trophy, with Caison finishing as a worthy runner-up.
In addition to the main competition, several individual achievements were recognised. Rylee Gibson produced the standout moment of the tournament with a superb highest checkout of 142. Reece Stephenson and Kenzie Hauxwell reached the semi-finals, while Johnty Howe, Jake Buchanan, Travis White and Oscar Wilkinson were the quarter-finalists.
Age-group awards highlighted emerging talent across all divisions. Kai Tiffan and Alfie Emerson shared honours in the 9–10 category, while Oscar Wilkinson topped the 11–12 group. Oliver Meikle added the 13–14 title to his overall win, and Jake Buchanan and Travis White sharing recognition in the 15–16 category.
Organisers expressed their gratitude to sponsors McClurg Scaffolding and Tudorharp LTD, as well as several others who kindly donated towards the event. Without their support the event wouldn’t have been possible. Thanks were also extended to the team of volunteer scorers, with special recognition given to Dave Dixon and Billy Allen for their significant contribution on the day.
Club representatives praised the strong community backing for the tournament and described the event as a great success, expressing hopes that it will become a regular fixture in the local sporting calendar.
Plans are already being considered for next year’s competition, with organisers hoping to build on this year’s success and attract even more young players to the sport.
Stanhope Sports & Social Club would like to thank everyone that attended, and everyone involved in the event. We look forward to seeing you all next year!
