Week 9 Report
Wolsingham Black Lion 5–4 St Johns Chapel Blue Bell
Wolsingham Black Lion shot into an early lead, with Doug Mill opening the scoring before Adam Fletcher, James Everitt, and Adam Martin each added wins, putting the home side 4–0 ahead.
St Johns Chapel Blue Bell began to turn the tide with Simon Aldred and Mike Moor claiming the final two singles games to reduce the deficit to 4–2.
Wolsingham Black Lion secured overall victory by taking the first doubles game, but the visitors battled on, winning the last two doubles frames to close the gap. The night ended in a tight finish, the hosts edging it 5–4.
Stanhope Club 6–3 Stanhope Grey Bull (A)
Stanhope Club hosted Grey Bull (A), and it was the home side who struck first through Adam Robinson. Johnny Emerson levelled for Grey Bull (A), but Adam Dobson restored the home lead.
Grey Bull (A) responded again via Paul Coombes, bringing the contest to 2–2, before Alan Barker and Stuart O’Dell pushed Stanhope Club 4–2 ahead after the singles.
Stanhope Club maintained their advantage by taking two of the three doubles games, sealing a 6–3 victory—though the scoreline didn’t fully reflect how close the match had been.
Stanhope Grey Bull (B) 4–5 Frosterley Inn
Frosterley Inn started strongly, with early wins from Derek Dent, Davey Richmond, and Finley Coates putting them 3–0 ahead. Richard James hit back for Grey Bull (B), but Neil Coates restored the visitors’ three-point cushion at 4–1.
Grey Bull (B) rallied as Jack Tinkler claimed the final singles frame, narrowing the gap to 4–2. Their momentum continued as they took the first two doubles matches to level the tie at 4–4.
With everything riding on the final doubles frame, Frosterley Inn held their nerve to secure the decisive point and a narrow 5–4 away victory.
