For Your Prayers

We keep in ourprayers all in our community who are in any kind of need.   Our prayers are asked particularly for Kathleen Kirby and all those who are sick.

We pray for children and young people as they return to their studies, and for Rev Graeme and Carol as they enjoy a well-earned break.

This week…

Church in the Wild – Saturday 5th 12.30pm

For the location of this month’s Church in the Wild on Saturday 5th September please contact Richard Walsh rather than Graeme.  You can do this by replying to the newsletter email if you don’t have Richard’s contact details.

Mothers’ Union Tuesday 8th 2pm

This month’s meeting will take place on Tuesday 8th at 2pm in Stanhope Church Hall.  Rev Heather will be leading a service of Holy Communion.

Faith Through Music – Tuesday 8th 8pm

At 8pm on the Tuesday 8th September, The Faith through Music group will be looking at a song we used in St John’s Chapel the other week – The Battle Hymn of the Republic.

Richard confesses that, whilst he understands the allegories, he finds some of the military language a bit difficult to stomach, so he is looking forward to a particularly lively discussion (he also will admit to knowing far too many rude words to that tune).

As ever, Richard will give a brief gloss of the circumstance of the composition of the song, and then field a free-flowing discussion.  Perhaps you, unlike Richard, have no issue with the imagery.  If that’s the case, please join the discussion so that Richard (and perhaps others) can find out how to enjoy using the song in his worship.  You can contact Richard for a Zoom link by replying to the newsletter email.
